Percolation tests are usually carried out to check the permeability of soil or rock in terms of the jointing quality of rock or to check the drainage parameters of soil. It is also used in rain water harvesting schemes to check the runoff values for ample water percolation in the ground for recharging the sub surface aquifers or to replenish the Ground Water Level / Table. The Percolation Test is a relatively simple and economical test and known as Lugeon test.
